28th INTERNATIONAL MASTER CLASSES & 13th INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR CLASSICAL SAXOPHONE

The master class (27.02. - 02.03.2025) is intended for:
- soloists
- ensembles
- beginners and advanced students

 

The competition (27.02.2024) is intended for:

- soloists
- beginners and advanced students

The competition is devided into 3 categories:

1. up to 13 years
2. from 14 - 17 years
3. from 18 - 26 years

The list of compulsory compositions will be available after 20th of September 2024.

 

The language of instruction is German, English and French.

 

Prize money:
The amount of money you can win will be determined after every participant has registered for the competition.

The participation in the course can be canceled free of charge up to 14 days before the course starts. After that, the full fee will be due.


Participation fee (soloists):
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 300,00 for active participation in master-classes with Prof. Christian Wirth (Paris), Prof. Simon Diricq (Brüssel) and Prof. Joonatan Rautiola (Helsinki) which includes three lessons of 40 minutes each

 

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 225,00 for active participation in master-classes with Prof. Christian Wirth (Paris), Prof. Simon Diricq (Brüssel) and Prof. Joonatan Rautiola (Helsinki) which includes three lessons of 30 minutes each

 

For participation under 14 years of age:

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 225,00 for active participation in master-classes with Prof. Christian Wirth (Paris), Prof. Simon Diricq (Brüssel) and Prof. Joonatan Rautiola (Helsinki) which includes three lessons of 30 minutes each

 

 

Participation fee (Ensembles):
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Duo - € 170,00 for each active participant, 45 minutes each teacher (= 3 x 45 minutes)
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Trio - € 120,00 for each active participant, 45 minutes each teacher (= 3 x 45 minutes)
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 
Quartet - € 100,00 for each active participant, 50 minutes each teacher (= 3 x 50 minutes)

 

Participation fee (Competition and others):
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 80,00 for participation in the competition
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 100,00 for passive participation for the whole masterclasses
·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ € 40,00 for piano accompaniment through us which includes a rehearsal and the accompaniment during the competition

 


Prof. Christian Wirth - He studied at the Academy of Music in Paris, France. Among numerous solistic concerts with internationally renowned ensembles and orchestras he is also involved in playing chamber music with "Quatour Habanera". He won several presigious prices and enregistred various CD recordings.

Prof. Simon Diricq -  He is the first belgian saxophonist graduated of the Conservatoire National  Supérieur de Musique of Paris. In 2010, he won the First Grand Prix Adolphe Sax at the famous International Saxophone Competition in Dinant. As a soloist, he played with Belgian Military Air Force Band, the Royal Band of the Guides, the Brussels Orchestral Ensemble, the Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Liège. the Wallonia Chamber Orchestra, Het Kamerorkest. He is a member of the Ensemble Squillante and works as a saxophone teacher at the Tournai Conservatory and as an 

Prof. Joonatan Rautiola (Helsinki) - Saxophonist, singer and interdisciplinary artist Joonatan Rautolia`s musical personality has been shaped by encounters with diverse artists and genres. His versatile career spans various projects with composers, actors, choreographers and circus artists, leading to performances on prestigious stages and beyond. Rautiola has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Strasbourg Philharmonic, Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and Finnish Radio Symphon Orchestra. He has also partnered with author-director Alain Foix and physical theatre group Kallo Collective. 
His performances have graced events like the Lucerne Festival and prestigious venues such als Salle Pleyel and Carnegie Hall. As a member of the Aava Saxophone Quartet and Uusinta Ensemble, Joonatan explores different musical expressions. His long-standing duo with pianist Marko Hilpo has delighted international audiences for over two decades. A passionate educator and advocate of a holistic pedagogical approach, Joonatan Rautiola is Lecturer in Saxophone Music at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, where he leads an international saxophone studio.


Mikkel Møller Sørensen (Piano) studied under Prof. Konrad Elser at the University of Music Lübeck, with Prof. Beatrice Berthold at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media and with Prof. John Damgaard at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus (Denmark). He received his earliest piano lessons in Denmark, first with Olav Pedersen in Bjerringbro and then with Klaus Andersen at the private piano school "Gradus" in Aarhus. Mikkel Møller Sørensen has performed in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Lithuania, Italy, Spain and France, and has appeared as a soloist with, among others, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. He has earned first prizes at several Danish piano competitions and the international piano competition "Music without Limits" in Lithuania, and was a scholarshop recipient of several Danish foundations during his studies, including Jacob Gades Legat, Augustinusfonden, Nationalbankens Jubilaeumsfond af 1968 and Solistforeningen af 1921, as well as Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Lübeck.
